Just imagine, you can make winter candles with a magical snowy effect at home!
I'm sure you've admired winter candles on Pinterest many times! And perhaps even dreamed of gifting such beauty to a loved one. But have you ever considered creating such a fairytale yourself, right in your own home?

Many people think that creating these realistic winter wax compositions is a task for a professional. Unfortunately, these doubts discourage many from unleashing their creative potential and pursuing a beautiful, cozy hobby. Where can I find high-quality materials? How can I turn this into a profitable business? How can one sell such beauty, which is a shame to burn and which burns so quickly?

But in recent years, since the art of creating all sorts of original candles has conquered the world, a new profession has even emerged: candle maker.

So today I want to tell you how things really are. Get comfortable, grab some warm tea (and maybe even find the perfect wax), because there's only good news to come! After all, snowbounded candles are always a pleasant surprise!
I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Natalia. I've been making candles for a year and a half now.
And the only thing I regret is: Why didn’t I go into candles earlier?
  • In this niche, I found an outlet, pleasure, beauty and aesthetics, and even my main source of income.
  • Candlemaking inspires me. I invented and patented my own wax paper making technique, wrote and published a book about flower candles, and launched a comprehensive course that includes over 43 flower designs and six of all existing flower candle making techniques. I can be proud of this, and you will be able to gain knowledge, the uniqueness of which is documented.

Now, in this course, you'll learn how to create unique snowy effects and frosty designs, embodying them in winter candles.
  • I couldn't even dream of this! And all this in just a year and a half. It's pure love! I'm sure you, too, can find new discoveries and achievements in candle making—the key is to just get started!

My creative journey began 8 years ago with epoxy resin, but wax and candles literally turned my life upside down, and if you want changes in your life, I recommend candle making.

Types of winter candles

In winter, a candle needs to be more durable and frost-resistant so it can withstand shipping and arrive intact, delighting its owner with its beauty.

Therefore, there are two options for winter candles:

  1. Flower candles

But in a winter version, with denser petals that are frost-resistant, there are two possible designs: flower candles in buds and flower candles in bowls with a frosty pattern. Winter flower candles in buds are naturally stronger and more durable due to their dense petals, and this type of candle in a bowl is even safer for delivery. The most amazing thing about these candles is that all the snow effects on the petals and frost patterns on the bowls are made entirely of wax!

2.Shaped candles

Themed winter and New Year candles in the shapes of fairytale characters: Grandfather Frost, Snegurochka, snowmen, and many others, as well as winter delights like snowflakes, pine cones, Christmas tree decorations, and snowbound fir trees. The possibilities are endless; you can create anything your imagination can dream up.

I want to reveal to you the magic of creating such candles.

I created a market trend!

I still can't believe it, but I was the first to bring the idea of snow-covered flowers to the market for winter. Although at first it seemed so obvious... flowers in snow in winter.

This idea resonated with many, and other masters took it up, attracting new students to my new winter course on snow-covered candles.

These winter candles in the snow are about magic, beauty, something unusual, yet at the same time real, alive, relatable, and close to our souls.

Snowbound candles and candles from chain stores
Let's take a closer look at the difference between winter snow-covered candles and regular candles from chain stores.

Scroll the table to the right.
Characteristics
Candles from chain stores:
Handmade candles:
1. Materials
100% paraffin. When burned, paraffin can release toxic substances and volatile organic compounds into the air, including known carcinogens such as alkenes, acetone, and benzene.

Natural wax is environmentally friendly and safe.
2. Painting
Stamped, all candles are carbon copies.
Handcrafted items are about aesthetics and uniqueness. Each artisan pours their heart and soul into each piece and creates with love.
3.Visual aesthetics
Simple, ordinary, template design.
Carefully crafted details, realistic snow effects, complex compositions.
4. Aroma
Sharp, synthetic.
Natural, subtle, unobtrusive.
5. Burning time
Usually faster, may smoke or leave a carbon deposit.
It often burns longer due to the use of natural materials, as well as combinations with other container waxes, which burn several times longer, from 20 hours.
6.Emotional value
A functional object that does not carry any particular emotional load.
You can't find candles like these everywhere. They can only be ordered from handcrafted candle makers. They possess a special energy and create a unique atmosphere. They're not just a decorative item, but a gift with a heart.
Now the main question:

How much investment is needed to get started and what materials will be required?
The cost of a basic set of materials will cost about 90$
Prices and materials:

Several types of waxes for a total price48$
kg
Stoking ladle 6$
Or a wax melter 15$
Wicks 1 pack 4$
Dye a couple of pieces 7$
Silicone mat 3$
Materials for decoration and various effects 7$
Regular spoon

This is WOW, what a comfortable investment, but the result can be huge!
By the way, you can also buy beeswax from me. I make all my candles from it. It's already been tested.

When choosing wax, it's important to:

  • be natural, the wax should be bleached with UV rays to preserve all its beneficial properties wax;
  • stickiness, so the flower parts stay securely in place;
  • flexibility, so it can be sculpted;
  • stiffness, so it holds its shape well;

All these properties are found in wax from the OVVAGE brand. To check availability, message me on Telegram @natali0399.

You can also place an order on the website.

What to do if you're afraid to start? Are you afraid to take on a new candle business?
I've created 5 commandments for a successful candle florist that always help me:
  • Self acceptance
I embrace my desire to create beauty and give myself the time and opportunity to grow without stress, in silence, just to create for myself.
  • Awaken yourself
All good artists are ordinary women and they didn’t create masterpieces right away, it takes time, which means I can awaken myself too.
  • Create beauty
The creative process is beautiful in itself, so I have nothing to lose if I start, on the contrary, what if I do something that is immediately beautiful and can be sold, so I’ll just start with one petal.
  • Create for yourself
If my hands are shaking and I can't attach the petal, it means I'm very sensitive, I need time and I'll try again later and create for myself.
  • Start small
Candle making can be a great hobby, I don't have to sell, make to order and create a business right away, I can come to everything gradually, I'll start small.
But what if you suddenly want more than just "for yourself"? Is it possible to build a business around winter candles, and how?
Yes, it's possible. I can share some information on what you need to consider to get the process started:

1. Candle assortment. The variety of winter candle designs is fully consistent with the creation of a comprehensive product line. These include snowbound candles, flower-shaped buds, and bowls. These can also include molded candles in the shape of Santa Claus, Snow Maidens, Christmas tree baubles, and Christmas tree ornaments. And New Year's compositions in the form of a candle in a bowl, decorated with fir branches and other New Year's decor.

2. Your own brand. I recommend thinking about the concept of your products. What are they for? What will they offer people? Come up with a catchy name that matches your vision and design beautiful packaging. Individuality is valued these days.

3. Seasonality. Keep in mind that these candles will be relevant from October to April. For warmer weather, you'll need to consider a different line. For example, in the summer I actively create candle-flowers from wax paper. They are more delicate, with thinner petals. Using the wax paper technique, you can create an unlimited number of types of flowers; there are no limits to the realization of your imagination.

4. Customer acquisition. There should be multiple ways to find customers. Here, we can highlight social media, as well as Avito for online sales, markets and fairs for offline sales, partnerships with flower shops, beauty salons, etc., and word of mouth.

5. Qualification. As your skills grow, you can not only make custom pieces but also begin teaching master classes, either personally or in a studio.

6. Expansion. In any business, to get more, you need to invest more. Investing in advertising can increase sales. Once your turnover begins to stabilize, you can consider investing in advertising for expansion.
